Backoffices and APIs on Directus, built and run on AWS
CoNDENSE.tech is a Directus partner in Milan, listed in the Directus agency directory (opens in a new tab). Directus is our platform of choice for data models, backoffices and APIs: we design the model with you, extend Directus where your product needs it, and host and run it on AWS.
Where are you with Directus?
Four situations we are called in for, and what we do about each.
-
A business that runs on spreadsheets
We turn the data into a model with relationships and roles, and Directus gives your team a backoffice on it: collections, permissions down to the field, flows that automate the routine steps, and dashboards.
-
A product that needs an API and an admin, fast
Directus generates REST and GraphQL APIs from the database schema, so the front end and the backoffice share one data layer from day one and a change to the schema shows up in the API at once. Where the product needs more, we write extensions.
-
Content that outgrew its CMS
We model the content as structured data, in workshops with the people who write it, and build the editor they need on Directus, with translations and the shortcuts their work calls for.
-
A Directus instance that needs looking after
We host Directus on AWS, in containers on ECS Fargate with PostgreSQL, defined as code, with autoscaling, backups and monitoring, and keep it upgraded under a maintenance agreement.
What we build around Directus
Directus does the generic part, the API layer and the admin app, so the time goes into what is specific to you: the data model, the rules on who sees what, and the editor your team works in every day.
We build each layer, then host and run it.
- Data modelCollections and relationships designed from how your business works, not from the screens you have today.
- Roles and permissionsWho can read, edit or publish what, down to single fields.
- DirectusThe backoffice and the REST and GraphQL APIs, generated from the schema.
- Extensions and flowsCustom interfaces, endpoints and hooks where the product needs them, and flows for the routine steps.
- Hosting as codeDirectus on ECS Fargate with PostgreSQL, staging and production described with Terraform or AWS CDK.
- OperationsUpgrades, backups, monitoring and incident response, under a maintenance agreement.
Escape games written in Directus
Garipalli's City Escapes are written in a Directus backoffice: scenes, steps, puzzles and the partner shops that hold the props, with a visual adventure editor, Italian and English translations, and one-step duplication of a whole escape for a new city or brand.
A marketplace built on Directus
Attorney Share, the case-referral marketplace for US law firms, is built on Directus. Directus and its background tasks run as containers on ECS Fargate, with autoscaling that follows traffic and an environment for every pull request.
Engagements built around outcomes
-
Objectives, not hours
We agree what has to be achieved and work towards it: a project with a defined outcome, or forward deployed engineers in your team on a monthly subscription instead of billed hours.
-
Agents in the loop, engineers in charge
Our agentic delivery factory, coding agents on Claude, works on every project, inside the conventions, pipelines and guardrails of each repository. Our engineers own the architecture and the decisions, and how far the agents go is agreed with you.
-
The same engineers run it
After launch, the engineers who built the system run it, under the same service levels as the rest of your stack.
What should your backoffice do?
Tell us what your team manages today and where it lives. We'll come back with the data model and how we'd build, host and run it.
